Our road to net zero
Medical Supermarket is committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. This plan sets out where we are today, how we will measure our footprint and the steps we are taking to cut it.
Our commitment to net zero
ProCure Health Limited, trading as Medical Supermarket (registered in England and Wales, company number 7305206), is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2040. That is ten years ahead of the UK's legal target of 2050, and in line with the NHS's ambition for the emissions it controls directly.
We supply the NHS, GP surgeries, care homes, pharmacies, clinics and schools across the UK. We know our customers are working hard to cut their own carbon footprint, and that the products and deliveries they buy from us are part of it.
Our emissions, explained
We will report our emissions under the three internationally recognised "scopes":
We are measuring our first full baseline carbon footprint, covering Scope 1, Scope 2 and the Scope 3 categories set out in the government's Procurement Policy Note 06/21 (upstream and downstream transport and distribution, waste generated in operations, business travel and employee commuting). We will publish our baseline figures and annual progress on this page as soon as the measurement is complete.
How we will get there
Where we are focusing
Consolidating each customer's order into fewer deliveries, and working with delivery partners who are cutting their own emissions.
Reducing the energy we use at our premises and moving to renewable electricity.
Using less packaging, and choosing recycled and recyclable materials wherever we can.
Reducing, reusing and recycling, following the approach in our Sustainability Policy.
Asking our key suppliers for their own carbon reduction plans, and favouring those committed to net zero.
Cutting unnecessary business travel, using video calls where possible and helping our team make lower-carbon choices.
Helping you cut your footprint
Our free Deliveries Carbon Calculator shows how much carbon your practice could save by bringing your orders together with one supplier.
Our Sustainability & Environmental Policy sets out how we manage energy, water, waste, transport and procurement.
Declaration and sign-off
