The short answer
- Match the width to your couch so the patient area is fully covered.
- 2-ply is softer and more absorbent; 1-ply costs less for quick, low-risk use.
- Perforated sheets make it easy to tear off just what you need.
- Change couch roll between every patient.

What to look for
| Option | What to consider |
|---|---|
| Width | Common widths suit standard examination couches. Measure your couch top and choose a roll that covers it. |
| Ply | 2-ply is stronger and more absorbent. 1-ply suits short, low-risk use. |
| Sheet length and perforations | Perforations every few centimetres let you tear off the right length and reduce waste. |
| Core size | Check the core fits your couch roll holder or dispenser. |
| Colour | White is standard. Blue rolls are often used for cleaning and wiping. |
Top tip: Couch roll is a barrier, not a disinfectant. Clean the couch surface in line with your cleaning schedule as well as changing the roll.

FAQs
Common questions
How many rolls will we need?
It depends on how many patients you see. Track how many rolls you use in a typical month and set a minimum stock level.
Is 2-ply worth the extra cost?
For most clinical use, the extra strength and comfort of 2-ply means fewer torn sheets. For quick checks, 1-ply may be enough.
Can we buy couch roll in bulk?
Yes. Buying by the case usually brings the unit price down. Ask us for a quote.
