i-gel Supraglottic Airway Size 5 – Large Adult (90+kg)
Want to know more?
The i-gel Supraglottic Airway Size 5 from Intersurgical is a single-use, latex and PVC free, second generation supraglottic airway for use in anaesthesia and resuscitation. Made from a medical grade thermoplastic elastomer, i-gel is designed to create a non-inflatable, anatomical seal of the pharyngeal, laryngeal and perilaryngeal structures whilst avoiding compression trauma.
Size 5 is designed for large adults weighing 90kg and over. Stocking it alongside sizes 3 and 4 ensures your resuscitation kit can cover the full adult weight range.
Each i-gel is supplied in a fully recyclable protective cradle or cage pack, which protects the device in transit and ensures it maintains its anatomical shape. i-gel is available in seven sizes, from neonate to large adult.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which i-gel size do I need?
i-gel sizes are selected by patient weight. Size 1: Neonate, 2–5kg; Size 1.5: Infant, 5–12kg; Size 2: Small Paediatric, 10–25kg; Size 2.5: Large Paediatric, 25–35kg; Size 3: Small Adult, 30–60kg; Size 4: Medium Adult, 50–90kg; Size 5: Large Adult, 90+kg. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.
Who is the i-gel Size 5 for?
Size 5 is designed for large adult patients weighing 90+kg.
Does the i-gel need cuff inflation?
No. i-gel has a non-inflatable cuff made from a soft gel-like material, so there is no cuff inflation step.
Does the i-gel Size 5 have a gastric channel?
Yes. The gastric channel allows for suctioning, passing of a nasogastric tube and venting.
Is the i-gel latex free and single use?
Yes. i-gel is a single-use, latex and PVC free device.
What is the difference between an i-gel and a laryngeal mask airway (LMA)?
Both are supraglottic airways. A traditional laryngeal mask uses an inflatable cuff, whereas i-gel uses a non-inflatable cuff designed to create an anatomical seal without cuff inflation.
