Choosing the right vaccine fridge
A pharmacy or vaccine fridge needs to hold your busiest stock levels at 2°C to 8°C, every day. Here’s how to pick the right size, style and features.
The short answer
- Size for your peak stock, such as flu season deliveries, not your quiet months. Leave space for air to circulate around the stock.
- Pick a style that fits your space: countertop, undercounter or freestanding.
- Choose a solid door for better insulation, or a glass door to see stock without opening it.
- Look for monitoring and security: min/max display, alarms, data logging or Bluetooth, and a lock.

Common questions
What temperature should a vaccine fridge be?
Vaccines should be stored between +2°C and +8°C. Record the minimum, maximum and current temperature at least once each working day, and follow your cold chain policy if a reading is out of range.
Can we use a domestic fridge for vaccines?
No. Use a purpose-built pharmacy or vaccine fridge. They hold a stable temperature, have alarms and monitoring, and are designed for medicines.
What do the F and G mean in Labcold model numbers?
In our Labcold range, models with F (such as RLDF) have a solid door, and models with G (such as RLDG) have a glass door.
